African Community Conservation Research Resource Centre (ACTREC) is a Not-for-Profit organisation registered in Uganda as a Company Limited by Guarantee (Not-for-Profit Organisation). It was authorized by the National Registrar of Companies, and has established a home for her headquarters at Nyakishojwa village, Kyeshero parish, Kayonza sub-county in Kanungu district in the South western region of Uganda. It is at7 kilometers to Bwindi National Park Headquarters on the Bwindi – Kampala road.
ACTREC is a committed grass root community-born organisation inspired to kick-start a new community based approach for participatory environment conservation and promotion of community-based tourism, with an approach that targets local communities as the primary stakeholder to fight climate change through the plan to recover the “Carbon Sink” known as the Recovery Plan for the Pearls of Africa (RPPA).

“To Initiate, Support and Improve community-based sustainable environment conservation efforts and initiatives at all levels through stimulation of practical participatory appreciation and understanding of the values of the natural resources endowment in the Pearls of Africa and ultimately enhance community-based and beneficial tourism to local communities and other levels of stakeholders in Africa and beyond.”
African Community Conservation and Tourism Research Resource Centre (ACTREC) is aninnovative implementer for The Recovery Plan for the Pearls of Africa (RPPA). It is committed research directed organisation designed to kick-start a new Community-Based approach for participatory environment conservation and promotion of creativeCommunity-Based Tourism. ACTREC is strategically constructed to transform the existing classical top-down directive conservation approaches and the guide-dominated tourism that have so far hit dead ends in one way or another.
ACTREC Africa is a grassroots organization dedicated to initiating a novel community-driven approach for environmental conservation and the advancement of community-based tourism. This initiative focuses on engaging local communities as key stakeholders in combating climate change through a strategy aimed at restoring the “Carbon Sink,” referred to as the Recovery Plan for the Pearls of Africa (RPPA).
